Muchas veces

Muchas veces sueño que puedo saltar y elevarme todo lo alto que quiera. Puedo subirme a edificios y verlo todo, el mundo, desde arriba.

The search for freedom and establishment of identity

Fashion reflects the taste, values and dominant opinions of an era. It is the reflection and aesthetic expression of a society, and therefore, it allows to identify how people thought at a certain moment.
In every age, fashion is imposed not only by personalities such as artists, politicians, etc., but also, it is created from the social values and attitudes prevailing at that time. This is because fashion is an identity communicator. Religion, the levels of education of people, the social position, all of them create different needs that are reflected in the way we dress.

During the twentieth century, women achieved social, political and economic freedoms, and this was also reflected in a yearning for freedom in fashion, such as the introduction of trousers at the beginning of the century, the liberation of the corset and the petticoats, and later, the introduction of the miniskirt by Mary Quant  in the 1960's. Many have been the designers who have fought for freedom for women through history, from Chanel with her introduction of the swimsuits and masculine looks, to Fortuny and his loose pleating silk dresses that revealed against the corset. Even Claire McCardell introduced the sportswear and adjusted the clothes for the housewifes that worked outside home.

At present, women are becoming freer and they develop diverse activities for which they need clothes that adapt to all the functions. Through appearance style (personal interpretations of, and resistances to, fashion), individuals announce who they are and who they hope to become. Moreover, they express who they do not want to be or become. Appearance style is a metaphor for identity; it is a complex metaphor that includes physical features (for example, skin, bodily shape, hair texture) as well as clothing and grooming practices.

In consumer behavior, the influence of the big high fashion houses and the designers must be emphasized. Their creations, in general, create trends that others follow. Designers understand that the audience seeks for a change and innovation and, therefore, seek to satisfy them from their new creations. The word of the designer, the fashion producer or the seller no longer reach to impose a fashion. As noted earlier, fashions are developed for various reasons: social changes, changes in attitudes and preferences, technological development, changes in the environment or major world events. It is important to consider that everything depends on the moment, the country or specific place and the group or population that is involved in that change. The designer develops new ideas but slowly walks towards them as he builds consumer taste gradually and continuously. There are exceptions, such as Christian Dior who, after World War II, introduces the new look concept of women liberated, participatory and feminine. The evolutionary nature of fashion changes is of vital importance to the creators, since in capturing it they have foundations to predict and identify the next fashion.

Cuando se apaguen las luces

Cuando se apaguen las luces
Quiero que me dibujes
Quiero echar a correr
Y desmontar el tiempo.

Dime que no habría nada que no pueda tener
Y nada que tú no harías
Si te escaparas conmigo.
Quisiera verte bajo las luces ahora.
